Abstract

Background: Dental treatment often causes wounds in oral mucosal, for example wound by tooth extraction. Wound healing torn into four phase, hemostasist, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling, Prolonged in inflammation phase could disturb the healing process and could make another complication. Propolis contains bioflavanoid which have anti inflammation effect. Purpose: to know that propolis accelerate the healing process after tooth extraction. Methods: We extract the right lower incisive of Cavia cobaya Cavia cobaya randomly grouped into four group, one group as control, applied nothing after the extraction, three other applied by gel propolis in concentration 10%, 15% and 20%. Three days after the extraction all sample are sacrified and we do microscopic study on the histopathologyanatomy preparale made from the extracted socket. Result: theres a significant differences between group-control and group application showed by numbers of makrofag, plasma cells, fibroblast, blood vessel, and epithelial cells.
