Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate an effect of economic growth on regional autonomy, employment and people welfare in districts and cities in Maluku Province. Population of the research consists of 6 districts and 2 cities. The data comprise published secondary data coming from Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) throughout 2001- 2005 regarding the districts and cities in Maluku province. The data analyzed are including those on the economic growth, employment, local income, local budget, income per capita, education and health. The data collected are analyzed by path analysis technique using SPSS packet program. The results show that firstly, the economic growth significantly influences regional autonomy in districts and cities. Second, the economic growth significantly influences employment in districts and cities. Third, the economic growth produces significant impact on the people welfare in districts and cities. Fourth, the regional autonomy brings about significant effect on the employment in districts and cities. Fifth, the regional autonomy elicits significant effect on the people welfare in districts and cities. And sixth, the employment gives rise to significant influence on the people welfare in districts and cities in Maluku province
