Perbedaan Kekerasan Permukaan Resin Komposit Nanofiller Setelab Perendaman Dalam Obat Kumur Beralkohol Dan Nonalkohol.
Skripsi thesis, Universitas Airlangga.
Abstract
Background. Composit resin is commonly used as restorative material in dentistry practice. Nanofiller composites, that contain nanoparticle, were introduced in dental market with the aim of providing less polymerization shrinkage and higher resistance to compression and fracture. In oral cavity, restorative material often exposed by saliva, food, drink, and mouthwash. Mouthwash is a product used to enhance oral hygiene and many mouthwashes containing alcohol. Alcohol in mouthwash can modify the surface of composite resins, such as surface hardness. Hardness may defined as the resistance to surface penetration. A decrease in surface hardness can affect wear resistance of resin materials that may result in premature failure of the restoration, thus requiring its replacement. Purpose. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of wouthwash (with and without alcohol) on the surface hardness of nanofil/er composite. Method. Samples of nanofil/er composites were immersed in alcohol-containing mouthwash, free alcohol-containing mouthwash, and aquades as control for 24 hours. Then sample of nanofiller compos it were measured its surface hardness by Vicker's Hardness tester. Result. There were significant differences in the hardness values of surface hardness between of each group. Conclusion. Alcohol-contain mouthwash can decrease the surface hardness of nanofil/er composites resin.
