Abstract

Background : Calcium applied always connected with bone density and long bone growth. Growth of mandibular as one structure which arrange oral-facial area besides maxilla, need have attention too. Unperfect jaw bone growth can caused malocclusion, that is why giving calcium since growing time is very important to prevent malocclusion affected by growth disorder jaw. Purpose : This study is to know the effect of calcium applied towards mandible growth ofwhite male rats (Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar). Method : This study is done to male Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar 1, 5 months and in good condition by applied calcium lactate for 4 weeks. Result : There is difference growth of mandibular which is found from the curve length (p=O,Ol) and the mass of mandibular (p=O, 00) between group with calcium addition and control group. Conclusion : This study can be concluded that the effect of calcium applied forwards rats mandibular, cause length curve and mass of rats mandibular increase.
