Abstract

Cleft lip with o r without cleft palate (CLIP) is a congenital mal formaton that could only be cured by an operation. It becomes lhe cause of high mortality rate even in developed countries. If the risk factors that could cause clefts could be detected, then we could make an effort to prevent the ooourence of it. We know from literatures tha genetic and environmental factor increase the possibility of CL/P. There is a difference in the shape of parents who have cleft children compared with parents who have no cleft children. Above all CL/P is polygenic inheritance so the possibility og accumulation of deleterious genes in a person having consaguinous parents, will be greater. Arguments abour the relation beteen the incidence of CL/P is still controversial.
