Abstract

Background : Periodontitis is a disease that cause the inflammation that be started by induction of bacteria colonization at teeth surface frequently. The bacteria came into the teeth through junctional epithelium and connective tissue of gingival, so, triggered the imunointlamation respons. Objedives : The aim of this study was improvement the influence of black seeed extract to decreased the number of macrophages, lymphocytes and plasma cells. Material and method : This experimental study was held in laboratory with Completely Randomized Design. Thirty five (35) mice were divided into 5 groups. K (-) group as negative control group (without treatment), K (+) group as positive control group (only periodontopathogen-induced), PI group (periodontopathogen-induced and Nigella sativa extract dose 600 mglkg bodyweight for 4 days), P2 group (periodontopathogeninduced and Nigella sativa extract dose 1200 mglkg bodyweight for 4 days), P3 group (periodontopathogen-induced and Nigella sativa extract dose 2400 mglkg bodyweight for 4 days). Macrophages, lymphocytes, and plasma cells be counted from interdental gingival connective tissue be made histopathology by Haemotoxyllin Eosin (HE) fixation. Result: All of datas in this study that have been analyzed by ANOV A and LSD test showed that macrophage, limphosite and plasma cell were significantly higher in K (+) group than in K (-) group. Macrophage, limphosite and plasma cell were significantly lower in PI, P2 and P3 group than in K (+) group. Conclusion: Nigella sativa ekstrak could decreased the number of macrophages, lymphocytes and plasma cells in connective tissue of mice gingival induced by periodontopathogen.
