Respon Tanaman Kacang Hijau (Vigna Radiata L.) Terhadap Kekurangan Air Dan Upaya Meningkatkan Ketahanan Tanaman Pada Kondisi Kekeringan.
Disertasi thesis, Universitas Airlangga.
Abstract
The general objectives of this study were (1) to evaluate the highest yield potential of three mungbean cultivars, (2) to determine physiological aspect of the crop to increase drought tolerance and to reduce yield loss by osmolyte application. The sequential types of experiment was conducted in two types, the first type in green house (two phase) and second type in field experiment (one phase) from July 1998 up to September 1999. Hypothesis are formulated in the context of the objectives were: (1) three cultivars of mungbean have different respond due to drought, (2) water limitation at any stages of crop growth are primarily affected crop yield of mungbean, (3) application sorbitol osmolyte through the mungbean leaves under critical water stress condition will eliminate yield reduction. The first and second hypothesis were tested in green house, by randomized block factorial design with three replication in Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University from July 1998 to May 1999. The last hypothesis was verified in the field station, center seed production, Malang from July to September 1999. The experiment were laid out in a randomized block design with three replications. The observation of growth variables included : plant height, root and biomass dry weight, growth rate, leaf area index. Crop physiology (chlorophyll content and stomata density, abscisic acid content, leaf water content, specific leaf area, net assimilation rate) and grain yield (grain yield per plant, grain yield per hectare, harvest index, grain weight in 100 grain).
