Abstract

Traditional treatment was a treatment with medication and treatment which was based on experience, skill, hereditary, and education/training, Those manners are applied according to the norms which is applied in society. Many factors that were contributed to support a person to choose traditional treatment especially herbal as the media, thus in this study the writer would learn and analyse the factors which encourage the selection of traditional treatment by using transcultural nursing theory by Madelaine Leininger as the reference and also analyse the dominant factor which is related to the selection of traditional treatment in Akar Pulung Traditional Treatment in Gempol Kurung, Menganti, Gresik. This study was conducted by using analytical descriptive with the cross sectional approach. The participants of this study were 119 respondents of Akar Pulung’s patients. The samples in this study were taken by using a consecutive sampling technique in a week. Furthermore, the writer finds some variabel independents: technology, kinship and sosial, lifestyle and cultural value,law and politics, economy, and education. Moreover, the variabel dependent was the selection of herbal traditional treatment in Akar Pulung. The analysis of the data in this study uses the Spearman’s rho correlation test and logistic regression. There are two factors which related to the selection of herbal traditional treatment in Akar Pulung, lifestyle and culture values then economic. The life style and value faktor is a dominant faktor which influences the selection of herbal traditional treatment in Akar Pulung.
