Abstract
The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of clomiphene citrate
on ovulation, fertilization and embryonic development in mice The ovulation process
was detected indirectly by counting the number of corpus luteum, fertilization was
detected by• the number of embryo and embryonic development was detected by the
percentage of blastocyst formation.
The design of the study is true experimental using 3x3x5 factorial includes
dose factor (3), mating times (3) and replications (3). The dose factor consist of 0
μg/g, body weight.; :2.5 μg/g body weight; 5,0 μg/g body weight The mating time
consist of after once injection;. after twice injection; a day after twice injection. On
the 3rd day of gestation, mice were sacrificed by cervical dislocation, then ovary and
uterus were collected. Corpus luteum was counted by dissecting microscope and the
embryos were collected by flushing uterus. Embryos were obtained and counted then
development stages of embryo were observed.
From this study it may be concluded that clomiphene citrate increased
ovulation rate and fertilization rate but decreased embryos quality.
