Abstract

The world is facing an explosive increase in the incidence of diabetes mellitus and cost-effective complementary therapies are needed. Eugenia jambolana seeds contain of Chromium and Tannin. Its has been reported significant decrease blood glucose, LDL level, and increase HDL level. The study was aimed to investigated the effect of Eugenia jambolana seed to exchange of blood glucose, LDL, HDL level and LDL/HDL ratio in streptozotocin-diabetic rats. This Study was true experiment. Design used in this study was Post Test Only Control Group Design. A number of 15 male albino Wistar rats weighing 100-200 gram were devided into 3 group (N=5). Normal group, diabetic group, and experiment group. Normal group and diabetic group were given aqua 2ml/200 g bw as placebo. Eksperiment group were fed Eugenia jambolana seeds extract 500 mg/Kg b.w for 15 days.
