Abstract
Achievement motivation is the desire to do something in order to to achieve the standard of success and to strive in order to achieve success. Achievement motivation affected by many factors. Factor related to environment could believed
as strong effect. Adolescent who lived in orphanage or lived in home have different motivation. Objective of this study was to explaining differences of achievement motivation in early adolescent who lived in orphanage and in home.
Therefore achievement motivation between adolescent living in orphanage and living in home need to be analyzed.
The cross sectional design was used in this research. The researcher got 54 respondents consisted of 22 adolescent who lived in orphanage and 32 adolescent who lived in home by using the purposive sampling. Data were collected by using
questionnaires and analyzed using Mann Whitney with significant level α ≤ 0.05 Result showed that there was any difference of achievement motivation between adolescent who lived in orphanage and who lived in home (p= 0.008).
The difference is that adolescent who lived in the orphanage higher than those living in home.
Further studies research also needs to use data collection methods other than questionnaires, namely the interview method. Expected result is obtained will be more comprehensive
