Abstract

In modern society, the number of mother who work increased straightly. One of the risk that must be faced is guilty feeling of leaving their children in others caring. Caring by others can be done in day care and by servant or grandparents (family) at home. Preschool age known as a time to form children personality. One of personality indicator is the development of social attitude which consist of autonomy, socialization and interaction to environment. The fact is the base to research about the differences of social attitude development in preschool who get day care caring and home caring. This research used comparative study. The population is all of playgroup student in Intan, Sidoarjo. The sample which is taken is 20 children who appropriate to inclusion criteria and devided into 2 groups, 10 children with day care caring and 10 children with home caring. Independent variable is day care caring and home caring. Dependent variable is social attitude development such as autonomy, socialization and interacting to environment with hypothesis there is differences of social attitude development in preschool who get day care caring and home caring. Data was taken in 18th to 30th of June 2007 used modification instrument beetwen Soetjiningsih (1998) and Competence Standard of Early Child Education (2003). Data was analized with Mann Whitney U Test statistical test with signification level (p=<0,05). The result shows there is any differences of social attitude: autonomy, socialization and interaction to environment in preschool who get day care caring and home caring. In this research founded that day care is higher than care at home especially in autonomy. Children who have been in day care compared to those reared by grandparents at home are more sociable and skillful with peers at later ages. Although day care caring and home caring can be alternative choice to care but parents child interactions, still the important aspect. Parents should have a more time to have communicate with child. In order to know how the social attitude is grow up. The development of social attitude is depend on the quality of care. It need care from caregiver consistenly. The limitedness this research is the lack of researcher ability to make instrument so that validity and reability level is not maximale, the lack of homogeneity respondent beetwen both of caring because limitedness of respondent.
