Abstract

Aging process represent the natural process which cannot obtivated. This process associated with loss of structures and functions on body. It is influence the physical and psychological change. The changing caused diseases of elderly. The elderly disease is related by genetic (intrinsic) and environment (extrinsic) factors. The difference of town and village environment related to elderly diseases. This difference of elderly diseases is unclear until now. This study was aimed to explain the difference of elderly diseases on town and village in Gresik regency. Design used in this study was cross sectional design. The population was all elderly in Pekauman Gresik and Kalirejo Dukun Gresik, whom live in Gresik regency. Total sample was 53 respondents, taken according to inclusion criteria. The independent variables were town and village. The dependent variable was diseases. Data were collected using structured questionnaire and interview. Data were then analyzed using content analysis. Result showed that elderly diseases on town and village had difference. The most disease of elderly in town is Hypertension and the most disease of elderly in village is Rheumatoid arthritis. It can be concluded that elderly disease on town and village have difference. It can be related by environment and activity. Further studies should involve larger respondents and measurement tools to obtain more accurate results.
