Abstract

School aged children still have low health quality and personal hygiene behavior, which may lead them to besuspectible to various disease, such as wormy, diarrhea, toothache, and stomach ache. Monopoli Sehat Asik (Mosik) is a health education using games method, which is appropriate to school aged children development. The aims of the researchs were to identify personal hygiene in school aged children and analyze the influence of Monopoli Sehat Asik (Mosik) to increase personal hygiene among knowledge, attitude, and behavior in school aged children. The research used pre-experiment at design (one group pre test - post test design). The research was held on May 3th – 17 th 2012. The samples were school aged children at SDN Bulak Rukem I Surabaya. The sampling method was used purposive sampling. The samples comprised 24 respondents of school aged children at SDN Bulak Rukem I Surabaya. Data were analyzed using wilcoxon signed ranks test with level significance of 0.05. Results showed that Monopoli Sehat Asik (Mosik) had good influence to increase knowledge, attitude and behavior, showing that knowledge, attitude and behaviour has increased with p= 0,000. It can be concluded that Monopoli Sehat Asik (Mosik) has good influence to increase personal hygiene among knowledge, attitude and behavior in school aged children. It is suggested that health education with game method would be employed to help children to increase awareness about the importance of personal hygiene since early age so that it can create healthy life and prevent from many disease.
