Abstract

"This study was performed to know the effect of low level laser therapy in callus rmation on rat's tibia fracture healing. Sixty Rattus novergicus which had been divided random sampling into control and test group were fractured at the left middle third of ,ia bone and immobilized with plaster of cast. Ten Rattus novergicus from test group :re irradiated by low level laser with 0,5 joule daily energy dose for 7 days. Tbe other 1 from the same group were irradiated by the same daily energy dose for 14 days, and : rest from the test group were irradiated with 0,5 joule daily energy dose for 21 days. ler each seven days irradiation, ten rats from each group were sacrificed and analyzed itologically and chemically. The callus were performed by routine HE and unochemistry staining to see the osteoblas, TGF-~ , thickness of the callus and alkali ifatase. Statistical analyzing showed a significantly increasing of osteoblas, TGF-~ , ckness of the callus. The osteoblas' p score showed less than 0,05 (p=O,218 after I :ek irradiation, p=O,O 19 after 2 weeks irradiation and p=O,O 14 after 3 weeks adiation). The TGF- WS p score showed p=O,022 after I week irradiation, p=O,043 after Neeks irradiation and p=O,OOO after 3 weeks irradiation) and thickness of the callus' p )re showed p=0,169 after I week irradiation, p=O,OO 1 after 2 weeks irradiation and 0,015 after 3 weeks irradiation). But the low level laser didn't make difference of :ali fosfatase between test and control groups (p=O,870 after I week irradiation, 0,434 after 2 weeks irradiation and p=O,328 after 3 weeks irradiation). This ;x:rimental study showed that low level laser can enhanced the quality of fracture i1ing by stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblas at the fracture ~."
