Abstract
This research aims to portray the profile of book rental in Surabaya. Specifically, it identifies book collection, customer, system of service, and the role of the book rental. Data were collected from five branches of Asterix book rental and 100 customers of Asterix book rental. The data were collected trough observation and by means of questionnaire. The results of this research show that: (1) the locations of five branches of Asterix book rental are conveniently situated. (2) the number of book collections is about ten million books, consisting of comic strip, novels, and story eith picture. (3) the number of regular customers of Asterix rental is about two thousand. (4) customers are required to leave the identity cards or driving licences. (5) the rentals serve as entertainment and information places.
