Abstract

Medical research said that 70% of newborn infants had jaundice, although the condition is considered normal, but must be remain vigilant. Early Initiation of Breastfeeding is the process of feeding itself shortly after birth. This facilitate the suckling baby next. Study was conducted to obtain information regarding the implementation of the EIB, the adequacy of breastfeeding infants marks and signs jaundice This study used a correlational research design with a population of mother and baby are doing EIB, with a sample of 30 respondents was taken with non- probabiliti purpusive sampling techniques, there were two variables, independent variables was EIB and variable depandent were adequate breastfeeding and jaundice case. The instrument used observation and Analysis method used Chi square. The study said that there was a relationship between the EIB and the adequacy of breast milk jaundice case with chi square test showed statistical count greater than chi square table with p = 0.004 that smaller than 0.05. it means there was a relationship between EIB and adequacy of breastmilk. EIB statistical test with the incidence of jaundice count obtained chi square value is greater than the table with a value of p = 0.001 is less than 0.05 which means there was a relationship between EIB and jaundice case. It can be concluded that there was a reationship between EIB and adequacy of breastmilk and jaundice case. Hopely with EIB adequacy of breastmilk will increase and jaundice case will decrease. Further study can analize the obstacle of EID in newborn infants. Keyword: Early Initiation of Breastfeeding success, the adequacy of breast milk jaundice in the hospital decreased Surabaya Haji.
