Abstract

An academic phase is the first stage in nursing education program. The successfulness of this phase depends on several factors, which one of the factor is the teacher's performance at class. The objective of this study was to analyze the correlation between student's perception on teacher's performance with the student's motivation and learning achievement in academic phase at the school of nursing. The design used in this research was a cross sectional. The population were the 6th and 8u1 semester students of 'A' programme of PSIK FK Unair. Total sample were 101 respondents, taken according to inclusion criteria. The independent variable in this research was the perception of students on teacher performance, and the dependent variables were learning motivation and learning achievement of the student. The data were collected using structured questionnaire. Data were then analyzed using statistical test of Spearman's rho with significant level at p < 0.05. Result showed that student's perception on teacher's performance had a weak correlation with learning motivation (p = 0,01 , r = 0,332). The second result showed that student's perception on teacher's performance had no correlation with learning achievement (p = 0,442). It can be concluded that student's perception on theacer's performance has a role in their learning motivation. As a teacher, it is being so important to empower student's motivation to reach the goal of an education process. Further studies are needed to find better learning method as a way to promote students learning motivation.
