Abstract
Feed is the key to success in aquaculture, because it affects the resistance and development of larvae. Types of feed that can be given to fish there are two types, namely natural food and artificial feed. One type of natural feed that can be used as a feed needs cultivation of phytoplankton type Tetraselmis chuii. Tetraselmis chuii is one microalga that is easy to be cultivated and has high nutritional value that is, the content of protein 74%, fat 4%, and carbohydrates as much as 21%. The purpose of this Field Work Practice is to learn, understand, and practice directly about the techniques of natural food culture Tetraselmis chuii the laboratory scale and know the constraints in the natural feed culture techniques Tetraselmis chuii laboratory scale. The growth of Tetraselmis chuii in a laboratory-scale culture peaked on the sixth day reached 3.240.000 cells / ml. This shows that the growth of Tetraselmis chuii is very long. obtained initial inoculation of 550,000 cells / ml and increased until the sixth day. This achievement showed growth Tetraselmis chuii experienced an exponential phase. After that, on the seventh day decreased to 209,000 cells / ml and then on the eighth day increased to 249,000 cells / ml allegedly experiencing a cryptic period, ie living cells take advantage of additional nutrients from lysis cells. The growth of Tetraselmis chuii on the ninth day until the fourteenth day decreased to 186,000 cells / ml.
