Abstract

Introduction: School age children is the group of age prone to dental and oral disease, especially caries. Most of the students who suffer from cavities are caused by the lack of knowledge about how to keep teeth and oral’s health. One way to improve their knowledg is by using health education about brushing teeth.The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of health education with demonstration method sound slide media on2ndbrushing teeth behavior at SDN Gempolan2Tulungagung. Method : A Pre-experimental study (one group pre-post test design) was used in this study. The populations of 2ndgrade were 30 students. Total 29 respondents, whom chosen by total sampling method, were participated in this Independent variable was health education with demonstration method and sound slide media whereas dependent variable were the change of brushing teeth habit. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to analyzed with (=0.05). Result : The results showed that there was significant effects of health education with demonstration method and sound slide media to respondents knowledge (p=0.001), attitudes (p=0.000) and action (p=0.000) Discuss andConclusion: Health education of brushing teeth for the school age children can use demonstration method and soundslide media. Nursecan combine these methods and media to have a more effective and attractive way in giving health education to advance brushing teeth behavior on school aged children.
