Abstract

The quality of spenn detennines the succesfull of artificial insemination program. Therefore, it is important to maintain the quality of spenn during and after storage at low temperature. The aims of this study was to find out the influence of Commercial Isotonic Solution Liquid (CIS) and Egg Yolk assortment extender on the motility and live percentages of ram's spennatozoa. Spenn was collected once every three days for six times using artificial vagina from the same ram. Semen was randomly alocated into three groups which received three different types of extenders. Control Group (Po) using Egg Yolk-Citrate (1 :4), group 1 (PI) using Isotonic Commercial Liquid (4) and group 2 (P2) using Egg Yolk- Isotonis Commercial Liquid (1: 1) and group 3 (P3) using Egg Yolk- Isotonis Commercial Liquid (1 :2). Motility and live percentages were monitored daily at the same time for seven days during storage at SoC. The results showed that the decrease of motility percentage in Po, P2 and P3 was relatively steady in comparation with PI which experienced significant decrease at the third day and none at the fourth day. Live percentages of Po, P2 and P3 was significantly different (P<O.OS), while PI experiencing significant decrease at the third day on the motility and live percentage in the fifth day. The conclusion of this experiment is Isotonic Commercial Liquid (ICL) and Egg Yolk assortment extender influenced motility and live percentages of ram's spennatozoa
