Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a disease oftenly occur in children under five years of age. Poor parent's knowledge and attitued are identified as being contributing factors to Acute Respiratory Infection insidence. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of Small group discussion to parent's knowledge and attitude about Acute Respiratory Infection prevention at Puskesmas Mulyorejo region. The study design was a pre experimental study. It used purposive sampling with sample of 15 respondents, taken according to inclusive criteria. The independent variable in this study was small group discussion and the dependent variable was parent's knowledge and attitude of Acute Respiratory Infection prevention on children under five years old. Data were collected using questionnaire and were analyzed by Wilcoxon signed rank test with significance level p<0.05. Results showed that there is an effect of small group discussion to knowledge & attitude with p=0.000 & p-.).000. Respectively, It can be concluded that small group discussion has effect on the knowledge and attitude of parent's about Acute Respiratory Infection's prevention. Further studies should involves target respondents to generate a more conclusive findings.
