Abstract

One technic that can analyze the effectivity of time perfonnance was contino use sampling. It can observe all of nursing . activity as long as one shift. This study was aimed to investigate effectiveness of perfonnance time with comparison between time used in nursing acts and non-nursing acts. This research had been conducted from June 12th to July 1st, 2005. Design used in this study was descriptive analytic design. The population was all nurses who work in female internal ward Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya, who worked in day's shift. Total sample was 7 respondents, taken according to inclusion criteria. The variable were perfonnance time used in nursing acts and non-nursing acts. Data were collected using respondent observation. Data were then analyzed using independent t-test with significant level p< 0.05. Result showed performance time that used in nursing acts was different from non-nursing acts (p = 0,000). It can be concluded that effective time used in nursing act. The most time used in day's shift was documentation act. Futher studies should involve large respondents, varied research sites, more complicated medical and nursing problems, and better measurement tools to obtain more accurate results.
