Abstract

"Increase of life expectancy from 46,6 years old became 67,5 years old at 1999 may effect increase of elderly population about 29 million persons or 11,4 % from total Indonesian population at 2020. Highest life expectancy estimated at Yogyakarta and Bali there is 74,17 years old. At Padang Tegal Village, district of Ubud and Gianyar Regency there are 232 persons elderly or 11 ,37 % from total village population. Elderly may occur physical, psychological, and social problem. In social field may occur decrease of social interaction caused by lost of job, activity, role, friend, power, and prestige. Geriatric activity is important to maintain elderly interaction. They can follow activities at "" Yayasan Werdha Sejahtera"" such as breathing gymnastics, Janger and Kechak dance, spiritual and social activity, discussion, and routine physical check up by doctor. Research goals are to determine relationship between elderly activity at ""Yayasan Werdha Sejahtera"" and social interaction. This research used cross sectional design, that is one of analytic observational study. The population are elderly at Padang Tegal village and sample size are 82 respondent who inclusion criteria. Data collected by questionnaire and analyzed by plum ordinal regression, with significantly level p < 0,05. Result of research showed elderly who active are 51,2 % and not active are 48,8 %. About social interaction, good is 51 ,2 %, enough is 35,4 %, and less is 13,4%. Relationship between elderly activity and social interaction showed value of statistic test p = 0,000. About age, sex, degrees of study, job, and history of illness showed value of statistic test p > 0,05. Conclusion there is relationship between elderly activity at ""Yayasan Werdha S~jahtera"" and they' interaction. So, from the research we can recommended to family WIth elderly for gIVe support to follow activities at geriatric organization and to nursing institution for information, communication, and evaluation distribution about maintenance elderly welfare."
