Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) has became a public health problem in many countries, mainly in developing countries. Indonesia, as one of the developing country, has the fifth largest of pulmonary TB case in the world. Despite the increasing Case Detection Rate (CDR) and Cure Rate (CR) the spread acceleration of this disease in the community is still high. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors of the patients with BTA positive pulmonary TB.
This research employed an observational design with case study approach. This research was conducted on the whole population of BTA positive TB patient who started treatment in January to December 2010 and had completed treatment at Public Health Center Makkasau, Makassar City. The variables of this study were the patient’s nutritional status, smoking factor, ventilation and sunlight penetration into the patients home. Previous studies found that these factors had a positive association with the incidence of BTA positive pulmonary TB.
