Abstract
Patient with diarrhea have a risk to get skin lession or irritation of the skin especially for children, and it is influences by many factors. However, the family should perform knowledge about this conditions with full understanding. The objective of this research is to identify the correlation the level of family’s knowledge and the onset of altered perianal skin integrity.
The design of this research is cross sectional. The samples, the family in the pediatric ward are selected by purposive sampling. They are 40 respondens. The data needed in this research are collected by quisioner and observations. It computed statistically to identify the correlation between the level of family’s knowledge and the onset of altered perianal skin integrity by chi square with pS 0,01. The result shows that there is no altered perianal skin integrity in the family with high knowledge; and there are 17,5 % for mild and 25 % for mid altered perianal skin integrity in the family with leak of knowledge. And also there are 37,5 % for mild, 12,5 % for mid in the family with average knowledge. The result shows that there is significance correlation between the level of family’s knowledge and the onset of altered perianal skin integrity with p = 0,002. There is implication for the family and the nurses to understand about the risk of altered perianal skin integrity in case of diarrhea.
