Abstract

The legs treatment for individuals with diabetes is important to prevent the occurrence of Ulkus Gangren. The increasing level of knowledge and the attitude of individuals with diabetes towards diabetic legs treatment constitutes one of the ways to enhance preventive behavior of Ulkus Gangren occurrence. The purpose of this research is to find out the relationship of knowledge and the attitude of diabetes sufferers towards injury prevention behavior. This design of study used cross-sectional study. The population in this research consists of diabetes sufferers at Persadia Organization in Madiun city in January 20 I 0. There are sixty respondents with total sample of fifteen respondents. The technique of purposive sampling was used in this research for taking purposive sampling. The collection of data was done by using questionnaires. The relation analysis is Spearman Rank Co"e/ation. The result of this research indicates that 53,33% respondents have an average level of knowledge, 86,67 % respondents have positive attitudes and 60 % respondents treat their legs well, the remaining of 40 % respondents are considered good enough. The result of Spearman Rank Correlation Analysis indicates that there is a strong relationship of knowledge about legs treatment and individuals with diabetes in efforts to prevent injuries which score of p = 0,017 (0,017 < 0,05 ). The score for relationship between attitude towards legs treatment is p = 0.003 The mass media can be used to enhance the level of knowledge and the attitude which is followed by the demonstration. And this requires supervision so that the attitude can become a habit.
