Abstract
Nursing services is an integral part of health care which can be used a mirror image of the hospital. Nurse performance becomes main key to upgrade nursing services. Optimal performance reached through work motivation, which strongly influenced was by leadership style of manager. This research employed a correlation method with cross sectional design Population was nurses at Inpatient Ward NU Tuban Hospital. Sample comprised 15 people (nurse and midwife) at Inpatient Ward NU Tuban Hospital. Recruted by total sampling. Independent variable was the leadership style of nurse unit manager dependent variable was nurse and midwife work motivation. Nurse unit manager leadership style identified by Heresy-Blanchard and work motivasion identified by. Data analysed with chi square questionnaire from statistic test with a= 0. 05. Results pointed out that the majority of nurses and midwive who perceived nurse unit manager leadership style of manager as partisipative have a high work motivation (70% of respondent). Statistic showed no relation betwen nurse unit manager leadership style with nurses and midwives work motivation nurse at inpatient work motivation nurse at inpatiet ward hospital (p = 0,201 ). These research results show no significant or no connection between the leadership style of head room on the motivation of nurses and midwives. Leadership and motivation are two defferent things although having installation work contexts and human inter-organizational. Motivation nurses and midwives are not only influenced by leadership style, but also by several factors including the properties of the work, the properties of individual workers, intensive, competitive and positive work environment and situasion.
