Abstract

Leprosy is one of contagious illness which generates complex situation. Main problem of this research was faced by family in taking care of leprosy. Purpose of this research is analyse effect of applied family nursing care to knowledge and prevent disability patient of leprosy. Design used in this reseach was pre experiment" One Group Pre TestPost Test Design". The population was all family and patient of leprosy in Puskesmas Taliwang, whom deal directly with the client Total sampel was 12 respondent taken according to the inclusion criterias. The independent variables were family nursing care. The dependent variables was family knowledge and preventive efforts of disability leprosy patients. Data were colJected using sructured questionaire and observation to the respondent Data were then analyzed using wilcoxon signed rank test and fisher exact probability test with level of significance of:::; 0,05. Results showed that applied family nursing care in providing nursing intervention to those clients was effective to increase family's knowledge (p = 0,002). Family's knowledge in providing nursing intervention did have significant effect in prevent the disability of leprosy patients (p = 0,027). It can be concluded that applied family nursing care is an early preventing and continued care is one of the increase family knowledge and prevent the disability of leprosy reaction to the patient. It recomended to prevent and decrease the disabiliy leprosy patients needs a good cooperation between patient, family and nurse. Further studies should involve larger respondent and better measurement tools to obtain more accurate results.
