Abstract
Anxiety in a stressing that canted by threat of self imagination effect to the physic and mental function. Anxiety in not bad at the longest if insignificant intensity and can be controlled. Anxiety may be a fonn of power to motivate person inovation. Surt,>ical treatment is an actual treating and potent to cause stress of person integrity, both physiologic and psychologic stress, the factors influence anxiety whi le surgical (operative) treatment among operative, experience, coping strategy, surgical significancy, support system and operative procedure. Client knowledge about operative time, explainfog at clearly about operative procedure many be able to decrease level of anxiety. This research has a purpose to desaribe level of anxiety with coping mechanism to the client before operative procedure, corelution to the client that would be endure operative treatment that performed in public hospital of Kepanjen Malang Regency in surgical Department and obstetry and gynecology Department in December 2002 to January 2003. The result of thjs research show's : l) level of anxiety of client, there are 17 respondents (42,5 %) with imoderate anxiety, 2Lrespondents (52,5 %) with several a.mciety and 2 respondents (5 %) with wild anxiety, 2) coping mechanism of the client that would be endure operative treatment, show that 34 respondents (85 %) use adaptive coping mechanism and 6 respondents (15 %) use maladaptive coping mechanism, there is connection between level of anxiety with coping mechanism use to effective pre operative client. From the phenomenon above, client with anxiety need to be given infonnation do to the managing treatment in pre, peri and post operative. So, the adequate info1mation help clients use adaptive coping mechanism.
