Abstract

Leprosy is a contagious disease that poses a complex problem and is generally found in developing countries due to limitations in providing adequate services. Patient regularly is needed in the fol low treatment program of Multi Drug Therapy (MDT). Irregular treatment can increase the default case. The purpose of th is study research was to ana lyze effect of nurse home visit to attitude regul arly patient in fo llow treatment Multi Dnig Therapy in PHN Alak-City of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. This research was a quasy-experimental study with pre and post-test control group design. Popu lation in this study comprised Paucibaci llary and Multibaci ll ary leprosy patient. They were enro ll ed using totally sampling. Sixteen respondents were available. Eight respondents served as the treatment group and control group consisted of the other 8 respondents. Instrument on lhe independent variables of this research was the implementation of nurse home visit strategies in the fo llow treatment Multi Drug Therapy, while the instrument in the dependent variable was the attitude regularly. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney U Test. The result of the nurse home visit to attitude regularly leprosy patient in PHC Alak-City of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara revealed difference between pretest and post-test in the treatment group and the result was significant (p=O,O 11 ). Whereas, in control group pre-test and post-test result were not significant (p=0,206). The re lationship between treatment group and control group was sign ificant (p=0,000), showi ng the effect of the nurse home visit on the attitude regularly among leprosy patients in PHC Alak-City of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. It can be concluded that nurse home visit can affect the attitude regularly pat ient in follow treatment program ~'lulti Drug Therapy in leprosy patient. It was suggested that nurse should do a home visit and give health education. Flllther research should involve behavior in fo llow treatment Multi Drug Therapy.
