Abstract

In the first hours of postpartum uterine contractions can reduce so that oxytocin is needed immediately after birth to prevent haemorragic postpartum. The purpose of this study is to prove the effect of early initiation of breastfeeding to increase levels of salivary oxytocin, decrease the amount of blood on the mother's vaginal normaly post partum in Rumah Sakit Ibu dan Anak Kendangsari Surabaya Design used this study prae experiment. The population were all mothers postpartum in Rumah Sakit Ibu daQ Anak Kendangsari Surabaya were 70 respondents, 30 respondents obtained sample using consecutive sampling technique. The study instrument is the observation sheet levels of oxytocin and vaginal blood. Data were analyzed by t-statistical test and Independent t- test with alpha of 0.05. The results of salivary oxytocin levels before and during the early initiation of breastfeeding obtained p = 0.000 and p = 0.000 for comparison of levels of oxytocin when early initiation of breastfeeding between the control and treatment groups. The results of blood volume obtained one hour postpartum 1 OOcc mean in the treated group and 186.6 cc in the control group. With statistical Independent t- test p = 0.000. The conclusion this study of early initiation of breastfeeding effected to increased oxytocin and decrease the number of maternal postpartum vaginal blood normal so expected IMD aplication can be applied in the maternity hospital. Rumah Sakit Thu dan Anak Kendangsari Surabaya can use the application of early initiation of breastfeeding in accordance with the procedures in an effort to raise levels of oxytocin may be given to the mother's saliva nonnaly postpartum.
