Abstract

Health education can help improving the behavior of family heads in theprevention of dengue fever (DHF). Family head is responsible for maintaining andkeeping the household, such as modifying the environment ami create healthyhome atmosphere. The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze theinfluence of health education using brainstorming method about 3M on thebehavior of family heads in dengue prevention in Dusun Tandes, Konang village,Sub District Galis, Pamekasan.This study used pre-test to post-test design. The population is all householdsliving in Dusun Tandes. The number of samples was 24, registered in accordancewith inclusion criteria The dependent variable was health education with brainstorming method and the independent variable was the behavior of family headsin dengue prevention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test,with significance level a ~ 0.05.Results showed that health education with the methods of brain storminginfluenced behavior change of family heads in preventing DHF with thesignificance of knowledge (p= 0.000), attitude (p= 0.025) and action (p= 0.000).It can be concluded that health education with the methods of brain stormingabout the 3M has effect on knowledge, attitudes and actions of the heads offamilies in the prevention of dengue. This finding can be used as a suggestion forthe health centers, nurses and health volunteers to conduct health education usingbrains torming to improve knowledge and behavior of the family heads in theprevention of dengue by 3M.
