Abstract

Vocabulary refers to the words we must know to communicate effectively (Neuman & Dwyer, 2009). Teaching vocabulary to young learners is necessary because it can develop language skills through learning many words and understanding their meanings. One of the teaching vocabulary methods is by using objects. Susanto (2017) mentioned there are several kinds of pictures, such as posters, flashcards, wall charts, magazine pictures, board drawings, stick figures, and photographs. However, teaching vocabulary for EFL young learners can be developed by making a board game snakes and ladders with vocabulary flashcards as suitable media for study activity. In this final report, there are two statements of the problems, such as the level of vocabulary in the flashcards for the board game and part of speech in the sentence instructions of the board game. These statements of the problems were analyzed with the Cambridge Dictionary Website and the theories of Ahmad (2022). This final report uses triangulation of data, including observation, documents, board game and flashcards. In terms of the result in identifying the vocabulary CEFR level, it found that many of the vocabularies that the writer selected are identified as B1 level with a total of 14 vocabularies. For the part of speech, it found that many of the words in the sentences were identified as nouns with a total of 18 words. It can be concluded that snakes and ladders board game with vocabulary flashcards can be learning media for young learners to gain and develop their English vocabulary knowledge.
