Abstract

The user manual is essential for creating a positive user experience for the product due to it provides clear guidance, easy-to-follow instructions, and solutions to possible problems. Having a user manual will increase the number of consumers who decide to choose our products, which will be profitable for the company. Bilingual user manuals are designed to be inclusive and globalised to reach the broader market because nowadays, companies are being required more and more to develop user manuals that will be translated into two or more languages. This final report uses Wallwork (2014), an analysis of the structure of the user manual; Newmark (1988), an analysis of the translation method applied in this user manual; and Olohan (2021), the reason for considering communicative translation as a method. Eight structures discussed in this project are Title, Table of Contents, Introduction—product overview, What is in the box, Glossaries, Key Features, Installation, Instructions, and Contact details. Furthermore, to develop the user manual entitled “PKT OTS - Pupuk Urea: Pupuk Kalimantan Timur Operator Training System.” The writer used the communicative translation method. The communicative translation method was selected because it focuses on building communicative purposes, ensuring the translated text is clear, natural, and easy to understand for the target audience.
