Abstract

English is universal language that is important to the academic community as well as other areas of life (Hidayana and Yakubu, 2022). They also state that children can gain several advantages from learning English at early age. Learning English is necessary for children as it most used language in global communication. This final report aims to introduce picture book that can be a media for children to learn English. Picture book is a book that use words and pictures to tell stories. Fitria and Sari (2022) state that through sentences and pictures, picture book is able to convey a message. This final report uses both qualitative and quantitative research by observing and collecting written data. This final report resulted a picture book entitled “Serein and the Raindrop.” In creating a picture book, several steps in the writing process should be considered by the writer including prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing (McLean, 2012). Additionally, determining vocabulary according to CEFR level is crucial to ensure the target reader so it will be understandable and educative to support children’s learning vocabulary. It can be concluded that picture book can be intermediary for children to learn English.
