Abstract

This study aimed to examine the antipyretic effect of Physalis angulata Linn leaf extract in mice (Mus musculus) induced by 10% peptone. The test animals used were 25 male mice (Mus musculus) which were divided into 5 groups, each group consisting of 5 mice. The negative control group was given CMC Na solution, the positive control group was given paracetamol, and 3 experimental groups were given ethanolic Physalis angulata Linn leaf extract each with a dose of 10 mg/Kg, 20 mg/Kg, 40 mg/Kg body weight of mice. Induction of fever in test animals using peptone subcutan, one hour later the rectal temperature of mice was measured. Mice with fever were given the test material according to the treatment group, then rectum temperature was measured at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180 minutes. The results showed that the administration of Physalis angulata Linn leaf extract with a dose of 40 mg/Kg BW showed a decrease in rectal temperature was greater than at a dose of 10 mg/Kg BW, 20 mg/Kg BW for 180 minutes of measurement.
