Abstract

Child abuse remains a serious global threat to children’s mental health, with WHO (2024) reporting that approximately six in ten children under five experience routine physical punishment or psychological violence from their caregivers. This article describes the implementation and evaluation of “Lingkar Aman,” an Instagram-based psychoeducation program designed to raise community awareness of child abuse, grounded in Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model and the information model of psychoeducation. The program was delivered over four weeks (9-30 May 2026) through visual infographics, podcast recommendations, and guidance on reporting procedures, targeting the followers of the authors’ personal Instagram accounts. Evaluation combined formative assessment, based on views, likes, comments, and shares, with summative assessment using pre-test and post-test instruments. Results showed an increase in participants’ understanding of behavioral signs of abuse, from 89.14% to 93.68%, and of child abuse case statistics, from 32.14% to 77.66%, while comprehension of WHO’s classification of abuse types slightly decreased yet remained high, from 95.88% to 89.82%. Open-ended responses also became more varied and specific after the intervention, reflecting a broader awareness of perpetrators’ contexts and more concrete prevention strategies. These findings suggest that Instagram-based psychoeducation can effectively improve community knowledge and preparedness in recognizing and responding to child abuse, supporting its potential as a scalable promotive intervention, although reinforcement of statistical content is recommended for future programs.
