Abstract

Yoshimoto Banana is a famous Japanese modern writer for his work in literature, who appreciated in the International. The first Yoshimoto Banana’s work was Moonlight Shadow, that published in 1988. This novel told about Satsuki, a young Japanese teenager with complex problems, who try to solve his inner conflict by using imaginary world. This Satsuki’s inner conflict make him anxious and worried to do his activity in daily life, therefore a research or examination should be applied to exam mental disorder. To exam more about the character’s personality, bring us closer to psychological aspect itself. To learn more about personality and conflict that happened on Satsuki, people who research, or the researcher using psychoanalysis theory by Sigmund Freud. In this research there is a process of how personality structure is the begining of the conflict, that trigger the main character to create a defense mecanism to solve the conflict itself
