Abstract
Republic of Cyprus has two major ethnicity Greek-Cyprot and Turkey-Cyprot. From the beginning, that two ethnics has had a leadership-related conflict. The conflict was getting worse when EOKA (Ethiniki Organosis Kipriakou Agonos) wanted Cyprus to be separated from Greek. EOKA then slaughtered the Turkey-Cyprots and did other anarchies to reach their goals. At July 20th 1974, Turkey troops came to Nikkosia to lend a helping hand for the Turkey-Cyprots to divide Cyprus Island into two parts; North Cyprus for Turkey and South Cyprus for Greek-Cyprus. A few years later, Turkey helped North Cyprus to declare their sovereignty eventhough UN and many countries did not give their recognition to it. It caused the Cyprus’s ethnic conflict became an international conflict which involved Turkey, UN, and EU in it. This paper explaining to how public opinion could influenced Turkey’s foreign policy and made that policy to did high involment intervention in ethnic conflict in Republic of Cyprus. And showing that ethnic theoris could be explaining about Turkey intervention in Republic of Cyprus better than the others mainstream theories.
