Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Bifidobacterium sp. and bastard cedar leaves extract (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk.) on egg production, egg weight also egg mass of quails. The research material was 96 quails in the early stages of production, 54 days old and divided into four treatments and six replications. The treatments were T0 as a control (without Bifidobacterium sp. and bastard cedar leaves extract), T1 (0.2% Bifidobacterium sp.), T2 (0.2% bastard cedar leaves extract), and T3 (0.2% Bifidobacterium sp. + 0.2% bastard cedar leaves extract). The data of egg production, egg weight, and egg mass were taken from 3rd week and 4th week of the treatment period. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, if there were a significant or highly significant effect, then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test. T3 showed the highest significantly different in egg production, egg weight and egg mass. It could be better to give combination of 0.2% Bifidobacterium sp. and 0.2% bastard cedar leaves extract in drinking water for the best result.
