Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan perilaku penemuan informasi yang dilakukan oleh Dosen Universitas Airlangga terkait dengan pemanfaatan jurnal ilmiah, baik yang cetak dan non cetak. Serta mengetahui preferensi dan juga tendensi Dosen Universitas Airlangga dalam memilih jurnal cetak dan non cetak dalam memenuhi kebutuhan dan dalam menunjang aktivitas akademik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif. Untuk teknik pengambilan sampelnya, menggunakan sampel acak bertingkat, dengan tahap pertama adalah sampel acak kluster dan tahap kedua adalah sampel acak sistematik. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner, data sekunder, dan studi pustaka. Secara umum, penelitian ini menganalisi dua permasalahan. Yang pertama adalah preferensi penggunaan bentuk jurnal ilmiah. Yang kedua adalah perilaku penemuan informasi dengan menggunakan model Meho dan Tibbo. Dimana model ini memiliki 10 tahap, yakni starting, chaining, browsing, monitoring, accessing, differentiating, extracting, verifying, networking, dan information managing. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah 89,4% Dosen Universitas Airlangga cenderung menggunakan jurnal dalam bentuk elektronik. Untuk tahap penemuan informasi yang dilakukan secara umum sesuai dengan model yang dikemukakan oleh Meho dan Tibbo. Translation: This study aims to explain the information-seeking behavior of Airlangga University lecturers. It is related to the scientific journal utilization (printed and e-journal). Moreover, this study also aims to know the preference and tendency of the lecturers in selecting printed and electronic journal. This study used descriptive quantitative research method. The writer took the sample randomly. The writer used multistage random sampling. The first stage was cluster random sampling and the second stage is systematic random sampling. The data collection was conducted by using questionnaire, secondary data, and literature study. Generally, this study analyzes the two problems. First, his study analyzes the preference using of scientific journal. The second problem is the information finding behavior using Meho and Tibbo model. This model has ten stages, namely starting, chaining, browsing, monitoring, accessing, differentiating, extracting, verifying, networking, dan information managing. The result of the study is that 89,4% of Airlangga University lecturers tend to use electronic journal. The stage of information finding which is conducted by the writer goes along with Meho and Tibbo model.
