Abstract

Backpacking merupakan salah satu bagian dari kegiatan wisata yang dilakukan secara mandiri dengan tujuan tertentu yang menggunakan anggaran dana minim serta peralatan yang sederhana. Di Indonesia bahkan di dunia Internasional kegiatan backpacking berkembang pada masyarakat modern saat ini. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari fenomena semakin banyak bermunculan lokasi wisata alam yang baru dan masih alami (belum banyak dikunjungi wisatawan), menjamurnya komunitas-komunitas backpacker di Indonesia dan Internasional serta meningkatnya reservasi penginapan murah yang sering dimanfaatkan oleh para backpacker selama perjalanan. Kegiatan tersebut disebabkan oleh motivasi dan ketertarikan tertentu seorang backpacker (sebutan bagi seseorang yang melakukan perjalanan dengan model backpacking) terhadap pesona objek wisata tertentu serta menginginkan suatu pengalaman yang didapatkan dari sebuah perjalanan untuk mengisi waktu luang (leisure time). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor cara hidup apa sajakah yang berperan ketika backpacker akan menemukan informasi, untuk mengetahui sumber-sumber informasi apa sajakah yang dibutuhkan backpacker guna penemuan informasi yang signifikan, serta untuk mengetahui tipologi penguasaan hidup backpacker ketika menemukan sumber-sumber informasi. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah tipe penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif, yang bermaksud menggambarkan dan memberikan penjelasan tentang perilaku penemuan informasi kelompok backpacker (pelancong mandiri) di Surabaya. Pemilihan responden dilakukan pada beberapa populasi komunitas backpacker di Surabaya sebanyak 100 responden dengan menggunakan sampel bola salju. Sehingga data yang dibutuhkan untuk penelitian dapat terpenuhi. It can be seen from the phenomenon of more and more emerging new natural tourist sites and unspoiled (not much visited by tourists), the proliferation of communities in Indonesia and international backpacker and increased cheap lodging reservations are often used by backpackers during the trip. The activity was caused by a specific motivation and interest in a backpacker (a term for someone who travel by backpacking models) Attraction towards a particular charm and want an experience that is obtained from a trip to spend leisure time (leisure time). The purpose of this study was to determine the factors what are the ways of life which acts as a backpacker would find information, to find out what information sources are the backpacker needed to significant information discovery, and to know the typology mastery backpacker life when finding source- resources. The method used is quantitative descriptive research type, which is intended to illustrate and provide an explanation of the behavior of a group of information discovery backpacker (independent traveler) in Surabaya. The selection of respondents is done in some populations backpacker community in Surabaya of 100 respondents using snowball sampling. So that the data needed for research can be fulfilled.
