Abstract

The cause of premature rupture of membranes is not known with certainly. Several factors are thought to be assosiated with the incidence of premature rupture of membranes include infection, incompetent cervix, multiple pregnancy, trauma, abnormal fetal position, lower socioeconomic, blood type, cepallo pelvic disporpotion, multigravida, nutritional deficiencies, abnormalities of the amniotic membranes, antenatal hemorrhage, short cervix, a history preterm labor, and smokers. The aims this research to analyze the risk factors associated with premature rupture of membranes (PROM). This type of research is use case control analytical research design. The population was all patients in the maternity ward of RSD dr.Soebandi Jember which amounted to 1211 incidents. The sample consists of 139 respondents with PROM (cases) were taken in total sampling of PROM population with includition criteria and 139 respondents non PROM were drawn simple random sampling of the total population. Chi Square statistical test result obtained there is no association between abnormal fetal position with premature rupture of membranes (p value=0,740 with α=0.05) and no relationship between multigravida with the incidence of premature rupture of membranes (p value=0,631 with α=0.05). No one of variables that related with the incidence of PROM in the maternity ward of RSD dr.Soebandi Jember.
