Abstract

Health education which is given to pre operative patients is a stimulation that can reduce patients anxiety. The anxiety felt by pre operative high and low extremity fracture may caused various effect. The objection of this study was to identify the effect of health education in reducing anxiety level in pre operative high and low extremity fracture patients on surgical room B in Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya. The design of this study was quasy experiment. This study is analyzed by using Wilcoxon Signed Ranked Test with level of significance p< 0,05. Sample that taken in this study was the pre operative high and low extremity fracture patients, 30 patients met the inclusion criteria and the sampling method was purposive sampling. The result shows that there are reducement of anxiety level on treatment group after health education, which showed on p=0,012. In the other hand, control group didn't experience significant effect of health education to reduce Anxiety level on preoperative of high and low extremity fracture patients. That might be caused by the differences in age, so it really affect the result of this study. Further research with more samples is needed, to get the accuracy of teh result.
