Abstract
Background. Candida Albicans is believed to be the cause of denture stomatitic. Cacao seed extract contains polyphenol which has antimicrobes and antifungal activities expecially against Candida Albicans. Purpose. This research aims to evaluate number of Candida Albicans colonies that grow on acrylic resin plates after immersed in cacao seed extract. Method. The method used in this study was carried out on unpolished acrylic resin plates with 10x10x10mm dimension, solution with 12,5%, 25%, 50% cacao seed extract concentrations, 8 hours of immersion times to calculate the candida albicans colony counts. Sterilized aquadest used as a control. Calculation on Candida albicans existence was carried out by calcuting the amount of Candida albicans colonies which grew on Soudauroud’s dextrose aga. The data was analyzed using One-way Anova and LSD with 5% degree of significance. Result. There was a significant difference between groups of cacao seed extract concentration 12,5%, 25% and 50% and control (p<0,05). Conclusion. The Concentration of Cacao seed extract 50% is the most effetive to decrease the numbers of colonies Candida Albicans on acrylic resin plates.
