Abstract

The behavior of medical waste disposal from the dentistry students of Airlangga University still largely in accordance with the prescribed rules. This behavior was influenced by several factors, such as knowledge of predisposing factors and the availability of facilities as an enabling factor. Students' knowledge about the management of medical waste and the availability of RSGMP FKG UNAIR facilities linked to the student behavior in the disposal of medical waste. Purpose: This study was to analyze the correlation between the knowledge of the Airlangga University Dentistry students and the availability of RSGMP medical waste disposal facilities to the behavior of medical waste disposal from the Dentistry Airlangga University students. Method: This research was conducted by giving a questionnaire to the students in RSGMP to identificate the knowledge of the student and the availability of medical waste disposal facilities. Observation was conducted for identificate the behaviour of medical waste disposal from the Dentistry students of Airlangga University. Result: There were no significant correlation (p>0,05) between the students knowledge of medical waste and the availability of RSGMP medical waste disposal facilities to the behaviour of medical waste disposal from the dentistry students of Airlangga University. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the behaviour of medical waste disposal from the dentistry students of Airlangga University didn’t have a significant correlation with the students’ knowledge of disposal medical waste and the availability of RSGMP medical waste disposal facilities.
