Abstract

Oral health is part of the overall health. Iron deficiency is thought to be the most common cause of anemia globally. Angular cheilitis is one of the iron deficiency anemia manifestations. An orphanage is an institution dedicated to the care and upbringing of children who have lost their parents or low income family Method. This research assessed anemia status and angular cheilitis of orphans Al-kahfi orphanage. Anemia status was assessed using digital hemoglobinometer and examined the angular of the lips to find any sign of Angular cheilitis. Result. From thirty six children, non anemic children were 20 (9 male and 11 female), children with mild anemia were 4 (2 male and 2 female) and children with moderate anemia were 12 (3 male 9 female). Conclusion. There was 4 angular cheilitis found (1 male 1 female in moderate Anemia, 2 male non anemic). There was nutrtional status can give effect to anemia status
