Abstract

Background: Main health complaints experienced by many residents is a complaint about their teeth, such as tooth ache, spontaneous ache, pain when drinking hot/cold drinks and swelling of the gum due to dental caries. Dental caries for school children is an important issue that can lead to complaints of pain, then also spread the infection to other organs. This can affect the appearance, quality of life, growth and development in children. Unhealthy dental conditions can also lead to limitations functions of organs and would reduce the frequency attendance children to school then will affected their activities. Based on prior research, students in Kaliasin Elementary School Surabaya have a high caries assessment (DMF-T and deft). Purpose: The aim of this study was to find out about subjective complaints due to caries in Kaliasin I Elementary School students. Method: This research is an observasional and uses descriptive approach. The samples were selected by total sampling. There are 80 students are studied in this research. The research instrument that used is a interview guide about subjective complaints, DMF-T and deft index. Result: 56 subjects from 80 samples of research had complaints due to their dental caries with an average of DMF-T and deft is 4.51 Conclusion: Dental Caries of Students at Kaliasin I Elementary school categorized at high levels caries. Most of this students, have subjective complaint due to their caries.
