Abstract
Background: Gingivitis is an inflammation occuring in gingiva, because toxic effect by bacteria around gingiva. Not treated gingivitis will cause inflammatory are getting worse and will result in periodontitis. Periodontitis is supporting inflammation of the teeth. Thus, it is very important to realize the clinical signs of gingivitis, one of which may be seen from gingival bleeding. Purpose: To know gingivitis description in Puskesmas Pucang Sewu Surabaya patients. Descriptive research use primary data Puskesmas Pucang Sewu Surabaya patients by observed gingival bleeding using Papillary Bleeding Index. Result: From 100 patiens there were 72 people had bleeding intensity on a lowest scale (0 – 0.99), and 28 patients had bleeding scales one level on it (1 – 1.99), patients who have the lowest bleeding intensity were men, patient with advance education, and patients who brush their teeth one time a day. Conclusion: The result obtained from research used PBI on level of last education and frequency of toothbrushing is on the lowest scale of PBI.
